CIE Diploma in Teaching with ICT PDF Print E-mail

The Cambridge International Diploma in Teaching with ICT, launched in March 2010, is the only International Diploma that meets this specific professional need. The Diploma is part of an ambitious programme of related initiatives launched by our School, aiming to provide clarity on the use of ICT in teaching and learning. It is designed for teachers in all education and training contexts, and at all levels.

Introduction

The Cambridge International Diploma in Teaching with ICT is for everyone in a teaching role needing to develop skills, knowledge and understanding in using ICT resources to support teaching and learning.
In today's world of flexible and lifelong learning, teachers find ICT becoming pivotal to the teaching and learning process. This Diploma recognises the benefits teachers will gain by becoming more effective in teaching with ICT resources, not only fulfilling their own professional goals but also enhancing their learners' capabilities and contributing to the success of their institution.
The skills, knowledge and understanding involved in teaching with ICT are generic and transferable. The Diploma enables candidates to work in contexts which are most relevant to them, while addressing these generic performance standards. Thus the Diploma is accessible to teachers in all areas and at all levels of education and training.

Target Group

The Diploma is intended to start in September 2010 with a tester class of 4 students. They will be part-time students having their lessons from 5.00pm to 6.00pm every Monday. Their teaching role may be their only responsibility or one of a number of responsibilities they have within the institution. The Diploma has been designed to be flexible, so that candidates from a variety of teaching environments have equal opportunity to demonstrate their skills, knowledge and understanding.
These environments can range across teaching subject (from general to technical), level (from kindergarten to A level, and the age of learners (from children to adults).
