School Rules PDF Print E-mail

The School Rules are designed to ensure that the School provides a civilised, safe and secure working environment for the whole community, in which courtesy; consideration and respect for others are paramount. They are based on common sense and teach pupils the importance of exercising self-discipline, of fulfilling commitments and of behaving sensibly at all times. The School Rules relate to School Uniform, appearance and manners, absence and illness, bounds, welfare and safety.

GREENSTEDS SCHOOL RULES
Members of Greensteds are expected at all times to show courtesy and consideration towards others and to behave in a way that upholds the reputation of the school. This applies equally to pupils when on school trips and when away from the school during term time, including journeys between home and Greensteds.

1.   Bounds.     Pupils must obtain the permission of the House Tutor or a member of the Senior Management if the House Tutor is unavailable, before leaving the area of the school grounds. This permission will normally be given only for official school activities. The workers camp is out of bounds at all times. Being out of the Dorm after lock up is a serious breach of security and is liable to suspension.

2.Leave.     Permission to go out with any person or meet or visit any person outside the school grounds must  be obtained on each occasion from the House Tutor or Senior Management. On return, students should report to the House Tutor or the matron. If the applicant is not the parent or guardian of the pupil, the consent of the parent or guardian will be required before leave is granted. For all leave involving absence from lessons, application must be made, in writing, to the Head Master.

3.Visitors.     If a pupil wishes to meet visitors from outside the school in the school grounds or buildings, they must obtain permission from their House Tutor and the visitor must be met at the Administration building. The visitor will be required to sign in with Security and 24 hours notice of the visit is preferable.

4.Dress.     School uniform, according to the dress requirements, must be worn throughout the week and when required, except on the following occasions: after 4.00pm on a weekday and during weekends.

5.Medication.     Pupils may not have medicines in their possession unless requested by parents and agreed with the House Tutor.

Pupils are forbidden to use or have in their possession real or imitation guns. Knives and any other kind of dangerous or offensive weapons are also strictly forbidden.

7.Sexual Misconduct and Decorum    Displays of affection between pupils must at all times and in all places be appropriately restrained, consistent with good taste and such that no embarrassment is caused to any other members of the school community. Any pupil involved in sexual activity is liable to expulsion.

8.Smoking and Drinking    Smoking or the possession of tobacco and the drinking or possession of alcohol is forbidden. See later sanctions.

9.Dorms. All pupils must remain in dorms after 1845. On return to the dormitory pupils must report to the House Tutor or the matron.
