Welcome to the ICT departmental page.We are the department that ensures the school is on the cutting edge of Information Technology, a part from ensuring integration of ICT in all aspects of our learning and research within all departments in the school, we offer a sound academic ICT background to aspiring IT professionals right from reception to A-Levels.For the general computer application packages we offer a 2 year Diploma course in Conjunction with City and guilds International. This provides all the students in the school with basic computing skills in Word processing / Databases / Desktop Publishing / Spreadsheets / Presentation and the internet. It is designed for those who are not taking ICT as an examinable subject at IGCSE and A - level.
We have 2 ICT suites with 20 computers each; all are networked with 24 hours broadband internet access. Students have internet access terminals in their Dorms that allow them research over non teaching times. Our lessons are conducted with overhead projectors which allow for easy interaction between the student and the teacher. We believe in self initiated approach to learning as the students feel part and parcel of the learning process. To achieve this, our IT lessons are 80% internet based allowing them to watch pod casts and other streaming video content online. |
