The aim of the Physical Education Department is to develop skills and attitudes conducive to involvement in an active and healthy lifestyle, whilst at Greensteds and beyond. We also wish to provide opportunities for every pupil to develop physically, socially, emotionally and cognitively.

The Curriculum is based on the British National Curriculum, where the Key Stage 2, 3 and 4 programs provide balance and breadth. 

The Department has been very successful at delivering examination Physical Education at both A-Level and GCSE and allowing students to link theory with their practical.

The extra-curricular provision is enormous.  It provides many chances for students to develop their interest, skill and ability in a wide range of activities.  A full Inter-School fixture list provides competition in many activities.  In addition there is a strong Inter-House sports competition featuring, most notably, the Cross Country Championships, Sports Day and the Swimming Gala. 

Fixtures are played after school and on Saturday afternoons, proof of the regard and commitment of both staff and students have to school sport. Additionally Greensteds is represented at all British Curriculum Independent School Sports tournaments which are a regular feature of the sports circuit. Greensteds was named as a Cricket Centre of Excellence and has hosted numerous international Competitions.
