GREENSTEDS ALUMNI ARE GOING PLACES

Greensteds is now officially 70 years old and unlike me (or you perhaps) the older it gets the better it becomes!!!  ‘Old Students’, if you were to visit Greensteds today (if you have not done so recently) you would probably get lost.

In 1937 Greensteds had experienced one year of being a day school for local settler children, with a number of less than 20.

Through an email we received from James Anderson Nicholas Wallis who was a student here from (1942 to 1945) we learnt that in January 1942 Mrs Greensteds and Commander Greensteds (clipper captain) managed and taught in the school.   In 1955 when Tony Ward taught here numbers had risen to 100.

Today Greensteds caters for students from the age of four to 19 years and welcomes children of all sorts of nationalities.  This page is specifically to recognize the achievements of the students who have passed through this institution from 1937 and to help them to keep in touch with their old school and friends.
We want to know what you are doing and where you are.  Meet some people who are keeping in touch and holding the old Greensteds flag high

They Are Making a Difference!
Hamza Mwapachu now works with Regional Air,Tanzania, where he is a high flyer literally!  He has two beautiful children.  He wishes they could go to Greensteds but they are still too young and his wife would miss them very much.

Congratulations are in order to Praveen Chowdhary (1990-98) on the birth of their first baby!  Is this a boy or girl?

Melissa Latigo continues to excel in M.I.T. or perhaps has completed her Masters programme here.

Jozi (class of 2002)finished university in the USA with a degree in Maths (imagine)!!  She has represented the Kenya Ladies Golf Team and appeared in the Nation and Standard as a shining example of someone we can all be really proud to know.  Way to go Jozi!

Yoseph Ayele continues to shine as a student of Harvard University, where he has deservedly earned a full scholarship thanks to his acumen and perhaps his good looks (we will leave that to the ladies to decide).

Caroline earned herself a scholarship to study in Pennsylvania State University.  Well done, girl!!!

Different Folks, Different Strokes but all with something in common!

Memories and Anecdotes
Annie Douglas’ most special memory is the tree outside the Science lab.  Annie, it is still standing and still as splendid as ever.
Alick, do you remember the old swimming pool?  Thank Heaven there was no spring board or some of those open age boys would have landed in the Hockey Field!  It is now a rain water reservoir and very very useful.

This new pool was built through the efforts of a Parents fund raising and school contribution in 1998.

Old Students – New Parents!
Cheryl Khan – mother of Marianne (Year 12) and Alia (Year 9)
