Introduction
Sport is a core focus at Greensteds and we have been a top contender amongst schools in Kenya (and indeed many other countries) in a variety of sports for many years now. Greensteds was also named as a Cricket Centre of Excellence and has hosted numerous international competitions. We have also run a number international SPORTS TOURS as well as a bi-annual ski trip.
Inter-School Fixtures
A full Inter-School fixture list provides competition in many activities. Our Open Age and Under 15 Teams compete in the International Secondary Schools Sports Association of Kenya (ISSSAK) Leagues and Tournaments in all the major sports, and our fixture lists for others like Football, Basketball and Volleyball is increasing year on year. We are especially proud of our recent achievements in the ISSSAK Kasarani Athletics Champoinships and the ISSSAK Kasarani Swimming Gala
Our younger Under 13, Under 11 and Under 9 Teams mainly compete against local Prep Schools (St. Andrews, Pembroke and Shah Academy), as well as traveling to Nairobi for matches against other schools and to compete in the Kenyan Prep Schools Tournaments for all the major sports.
Inter-House Competitions
There are also Inter-House Competitions held in a wide variety of sports throughout the year. Each pupil is allocated to a House – NELION, BATIAN or KIBO, and the competitions between the houses are hotly contested but are also always a lot of fun and give every student the opportunity to take part.
There are two Year 12 students appointed as House Captains and two as Sports Captains for each house. These students play an invaluable role in leading their houses and helping competitors both leading up to and during Inter-House Sports Events.
Our largest Inter-House Events during the year are the Cross Country Champoinships, Sports Day and the Swimming Gala. (Please click on the links for more information)
